Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline is breaking his silence about his thoughts on Britney and her relationship with their two sons, Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15. Kevin says that the boys love their mom, but feel like it’s best if they take a break from her during this time.
According to the Daily Mail, in an upcoming interview with ITV, Kevin is sharing how all of Britney’s recent dramas have affected their sons. The teenage boys haven’t been in the spotlight much in recent years because Kevin wants them to grow up as normal teenagers. He says it’s been very difficult to shield them from certain things since Britney’s conservatorship ended. The boys have decided on their own terms that they want a break from their mom, hence why they weren’t present at her wedding a few months ago.
“The boys have decided they are not seeing her right now,” Kevin reveals. “It’s been a few months since they’ve seen her. They made the decision not to go to her wedding. This whole thing has been hard to watch, harder to live through, harder to watch my boys go through than anything else. It’s been tough. It’s the most challenging thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.
Kevin shares that some of Britney’s social media posts make the boys feel uncomfortable. Britney isn’t scared to show a little skin on her page, but for teenage boys it can be very weird to see their mother in that way. Kevin says he has to remind them that their mom loves them and this is her way of “expressing herself”.
“I try to explain to them, ‘Look, maybe that’s just another way she tries to express herself.’ But that doesn’t take away from the fact of what it does to them. It’s tough.” He adds: “I can’t imagine how it feels to be a teenager having to go to high school.”
