Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that the Last moment of Archie Battersbee at hospital and in coma goes viral after his death.

Barts Health NHS Trust has released a statement following the death of Archie Battersbee.

The trust conveyed its “heartfelt condolences” to Archie’s family and thanked hospital staff for their “extraordinary compassion”.

But doctors treating the boy had declared Archie to be “brain stem dead”, and argued that the youngster should be disconnected from a ventilator.

This prompted a lengthy but unsuccessful fight in the courts to continue his life support treatment in the hope he would recover.

Archie’s family had later made bids to the High Court, Court of Appeal and European Court of Human Rights to have him transferred to a hospice to die, but all legal routes were exhausted.

A Twitter user: “This is the state of British Conservatism: Tory Southend West MP Anna Firth poses with Archie Battersbee & his family with Jubilee memorabilia. This is vulgar, debased, dehumanising & every adult involved in this should be ashamed.”

Archie’s parents, Hollie Dance and Paul Battersbee, from Southend, disagree.

Ms Firth made the visit to show support for Archie and his family during this extremely difficult time and to raise awareness for the ongoing fundraiser to support his family.

Ms Firth also presented Archie with his own personalised Platinum Jubilee certificate ahead of the Jubilee weekend as has been given to other children in Southend West and also met Archie’s sister, Lauren.

Commenting, Hollie said: “What a lovely visit from Southend’s MP Anna Firth. Genuinely interested in Archie’s condition and day-to-day care.

“She even had a little chat to him along with her chaperone Richard, again very lovely young man.

Alistair Chesser, chief medical officer at Barts Health NHS Trust – which oversaw Archie’s care – said in a statement: “Members of his family were present at [Archie’s] bedside and our thoughts and heartfelt condolences remain with them at this difficult time.

“The trust would like to thank the medical, nursing, and support staff in the paediatric intensive care department who looked after Archie following his awful accident.

“They provided high-quality care with extraordinary compassion over several months in often trying and distressing circumstances. This tragic case not only affected the family and his carers but touched the hearts of many across the country.”

“Anna brought Archie a Jubilee certificate and flag so he doesn’t miss out on the celebrations. Richard already knew all about Barry.”
