A Texas Child Protective Services employee was terminated after allegedly telling a 14-year-old girl to become a prostitute.
According to Fox News, Keisha Bazley, a Houston mother of nine, reached out for help from CPS because her daughter was running away and causing trouble at school. The agency had placed her daughter in a hotel, along with dozens of other foster children in that region of Texas.
“My daughter told me that the worker had been telling her she should do these things, so she said she decided to video her,” Keisha said.
In the video the teen is telling the CPS worker that she wants food and in response, the worker tells the teen to be a prostitute.
“If me, the parent, was to do something like this to my child, I would be bashed,” Keisha said about the CPS workers disgusting career suggestion. “I would be called a horrible parent. I would lose my kids.”
Keisha ended up filing an official complaint against CPS.
The agency’s commissioner, Jamie Masters, went Keisha’s house to apologize to her and her daughter.
‘This should not happen to girls in their care,’ Jamie said. ‘It should not happen. It’s unacceptable.’
In a statement, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services said they were aware of the video and have taken action.
‘The person in the video – who was employed as CPS support staff – was dismissed from her position August 10. The safety and appropriateness with which children in care must be treated is our paramount concern. Nothing less will be tolerated.’
