The immediate family of 24yr old Hellen ‘Wendy’ Nyabuto, a Kenyan who was living and working in Canada as a nurse has deleted the viral video of her drowning in a private pool three days ago.
Her Facebook account is now being controlled by her brother, Enock Magara Nyabuto, who says, the family is stranded in flying her body back home for a decent burial, adding that they are still struggling to come to terms with Hellen’s loss.
According to Hellen’s father, she was a sharp but calm child, who graduated from the Toronto Metropolitan University after studying oncology nursing at Kenya’s Pwani University.
She moved to Canada in 2019 after getting a 10-year study visa to Canada through a Green Card lottery. In the North American country, she was juggling between studies and part-time nursing practice.
Hellen’s brother, who has now taken over her Facebook account, says she was the sole breadwinner of the family.
“It is such a devastating and sad moment because she was our sole bread winner and was the one who was in charge of everything back at home. She has left a very big gap that we cannot fill at the moment.” – Enock Nyabuto
Hellen’s family is now appealing to well-wishers to help them raise funds to help them bring her back home, through either MPESA, CASHAPP or a gofundme link shared on Hellen Wendy’s Facebook account.
Hellen’s body after being retrieved from the pool was taken to a Toronto mortuary, pending postmortem.
