Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that GK, Emi Martínez, shushed Lille Fans after saving a penalty.

Unai Emery’s side lost 2-1 on the night but with the aggregate score at 3-3 at the end of the second leg, extra-time and penalties were needed.

Martinez played some quick mind games and was warned for his antics before stepping up to save a penalty from Nabil Bentaleb and then shushing the crowd.

Moments after, he gestured to the home crowd as he gloated his save and received another booking from referee Ivan Kruzliak.

It was a surprise, then, to see Martinez continue in goal for the rest of the shootout and ultimately help Aston Villa progress by saving a second penalty.

Martinez, who also caused controversy for his antics during the World Cup final shootout, ran the full length of the pitch to the travelling Villa fans after the win.

The reason Martinez was not sent off is that yellow cards from the game – in this case the 90 minutes plus extra-time – do not carry through to the penalty shootout, meaning he was allowed to continue.
