Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that KPMG boss, Fidelis Moema, earned R64K per month in his previous job but wasn’t enough for him.
Fidelis Moema, former KPMG employee, appears alongside two accused at the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for their R16 million fraud case.
As a bursary specialist at KPMG, Moema allegedly diverted money meant for students to himself & his accomplices.
Fidelis Moema, in his bail affidavit, said he undertakes not to interfere with police investigations or interact with any witnesses.
He said his continued incarceration will only serve to prejudice him.
Moema said he has been arrested since 2 April 2024. Trevor Machimane, in his bail affidavit, said he kept contact with Fidelis Moema and eventually they got into business together.
Machimane said Moema sent money to his Nedbank account until it was frozen by the bank on suspicion of fraudulent activity.
Fidelis Moema, in his bail affidavit, said he handed himself over to police.
He acknowledges that he is charged with money laundering and theft. Fidelis Moema, in his bail application, said he has a job where he earns over R64k a month.
He lives with his girlfriend and their two-year-old child in Johannesburg.
Moema said he has no previous or pending criminal cases against him. Fidelis Moema’s attorney is now reading his bail application.
This will be a Schedule 5 bail application, meaning the onus is on the accused to show its in the interest of justice for them to be released on bail.
