Elon Musk’s ex-girlfriend Jennifer Gwynne put her memorabilia and photos of the Tesla CEO to good use after placing a significant amount of items up for auction, which has earned her a cool $165,000, it was revealed on Thursday.
According to RR Auction, where the items were being sold, Gwynne, who dated the tech mogul for one year while they both attended the University of Pennsylvania together in 1994, sold 18 photos of her and Musk, including snaps of them eating and hanging with friends.
A birthday card she received from Musk was also put up for auction, selling for $16,643, along with a 14k-gold necklace Gwynne received as a gift from her ex, which earned her another $51,008. In an interview with Daily Mail, the 48-year-old, who is now married and living in South Carolina, said the pair shared a “sweet” romance together but their relationship was often lacking in affection because Musk apparently resisted showing any sort of PDA.
The father of 10, who has since become the world’s richest man with a $272 billion net worth, decided to call it quits with Gwynne after he graduated and decided to relocate to California. Though she had hoped to stay in touch with him over the phone, Musk had allegedly told her that conversing via frequent calls seemed like a “waste of time” to him, prompting the former couple to lose contact altogether. “We broke up just before he started conquering the world,” she told the news outlet.
