Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Udit Raj said Govt Snatching properties after citizen’s death is not wrong as he supports Sam Pitroda 50% inheritance tax tweet.

Congress’s North-West Delhi candidate Udit Raj comes out in support of Congress’s Sam pitroda s Idea of #InheritanceTax :

“Govt Snatching properties after citizen’s death is not wrong, we must do it. India is the most ideal country to impose this”

A political row around wealth redistribution has flared up after Sam Pitroda, chairman of the Indian Overseas Congress, called for an inheritance tax system in India, a system similar to an existing tax system in the U.S.

Pitroda is advocating for a 50 percent inheritance tax. This means half of whatever a person builds will be charged as a tax upon their death, and their heirs will only be able to acquire the remaining 50 per cent.

Furthermore, he called out Congress for including wealth redistribution in their manifesto. He said, “The property you have accumulated through your hard work will not be given to your children. The claws of Congress will snatch that too from you. The mantra of Congress is- Congress’s loot during life and even after life.”

In the United States, a similar inheritance tax is a state tax levied on the money or property you receive from a deceased person’s estate. The inheritance tax, as opposed to the federal estate tax, is paid by the beneficiary.

As of 2021, only six states impose an inheritance tax: Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The tax rates and exemptions vary by state, with some states exempting certain classes of heirs or imposing lower tax rates on transfers to close family members.

“I mentioned US inheritance tax in the US only as an example in my normal conversation on TV. Can I not mention facts ? I said these are the kind of issues people will have to discuss and debate. This has nothing to do with policy of any party including congress,” he further added.
