In the latest episode of her Spotify podcast, “Archetypes,” Meghan Markle revealed her reason for quitting her former job as a briefcase girl on NBC’s now-defunct game show “Deal Or No Deal.” (Read More Here).

The Duchess of Sussex appeared on the show for several episodes during its second season run in 2006, but after feeling like she had been “reduced to a bimbo,” she ultimately decided to walk away.

“Like I said, I was thankful for the job but not for how it made me feel which was not smart,” Markle explained to her guest Paris Hilton, who joined in on the conversation in the episode titled “Breaking Down the Bimbo.” The mother of two said that while she was working with very smart women on the show, the focus was never on their intellect but more so on their looks.

“I would end up leaving with this pit in my stomach, knowing that I was so much more than what was being objectified on the stage,” she added. “I didn’t like feeling forced to be all looks and little substance. And that’s how it felt for me at the time being reduced to this specific archetype.” Though she didn’t stay on the show for long, the money she was paid helped her secure health insurance and join the union as Markle began to pursue a career in acting.
