The Toyota Probox is among some 28 car models that have been banned by APA Insurance Company from accessing comprehensive cover.

The company has barred owners of the models derived from Toyota, Honda, Maruti, Mazda, Nissan and Suzuki cars, saying the vehicles are heavily misused.

Those banned include popular Toyota models Wish, Vitz, Probox and Fielder, Honda (Stream, Fit, Airwave), Suzuki (Swift), Mazda (Demio, Axela) and Nissan (Tiida, Vanette, Wingroad)).

According to APA, most of the above listed vehicles are insured as private vehicles but are being used to ferry passengers in rural areas, breaching the policy requirements.

Recently, insurers have been banning more car models from comprehensive covers, citing high losses from their misuse.
