A 32-year-old Tennessee woman who shot a homeless man in Nashville has been sentenced to unsupervised probation.
Katie Quackenbush was convicted on a reckless endangerment charge, a misdemeanor after shooting 54-year-old Gerald Melton in 2017. Last thursday she was sentenced to 11 months and 29 days of probation. According to police, Melton—who is homeless—was trying to sleep on a sidewalk when he became disturbed by loud music coming from Quackenbush’s Porsche SUV.
Melton asked Quackenbush to move her SUV, which led them to get into an argument. After Melton went back to his sleeping spot, Quackenbush allegedly got out of her vehicle with a gun and shot Melton twice, leaving him with a critical abdomen wound. Police say Quackenbush then fled the scene.
