Amidst transfer rumors, Texas WR Xavier Worthy has deleted everything Longhorn related from his Instagram.
It appears Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy could enter the NCAA transfer portal sooner rather than later.
Rumors have been circulating over the last few weeks that this could potentially happen, but Worthy added fuel to the fire after Texas’ 38-27 over Baylor.
Worthy deleted all Texas-related posts from his Instagram account on Saturday. While this is certainly just speculation, it comes at an interesting time considering the Longhorns still have an outside shot at competing in the Big 12 Championship game this season.
Yet, it doesn’t look like Worthy removed much of the Texas-related content from his Twitter page as of writing this up on the afternoon of Nov. 26.
Instagram looks to be the main form of social media that he rid of anything that tied him to the Longhorns following the conclusion of the regular season.
This comes as Worthy is already tied to a ton of rumors and discussion around various media circles and on the message boards that he could enter the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. It now looks like he could be hinting at something with the removal of Texas on Instagram this weekend.
I will say that this is not the first time that Worthy has done this type of thing on social media. So, we can’t automatically assume that he is gone and will enter the portal in the next couple of weeks.
But that is mostly just speculation based on all the rumors circulating around Worthy possibly testing the waters in the transfer portal after the window opens on Dec. 5.
Worthy is having a down season with the Longhorns compared to an explosive true freshman campaign that saw him emerge as one of the most potent wideouts in the entire country. He finished up the regular season still with roughly 320 fewer receiving yards than last season, along with three fewer yards per catch, and three fewer touchdowns.
Moreover, if Worthy were to test the waters in the transfer portal entering the 2023 offseason, it wouldn’t be the first time that he at least pondered the decision. Worthy was close to entering the portal last offseason, but he ultimately stuck around for another year on the Forty Acres.
Texas even flipped the commitment of Worthy from the Michigan Wolverines during the 2021 offseason. Worthy has at least considered a change in programs in every single offseason he was enrolled at a college in the last couple of years.
After beating Baylor by a score of 38-27 on Black Friday, the Longhorns finished up the regular season with a record of 8-4 (6-3 Big 12). Texas is now waiting for the result of the Kansas-Kansas State game on the night of Nov. 26 to figure out if it will get a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game next weekend against the No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs.
