Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Mithika Linturi impeached with 79.26% VOTES as 149 MPs voted him out.
MPs Thursday voted to form a select committee to investigate the conduct of Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.
A total of 149 members voted in favour while 36 rejected it.
Three of the members abstained.
In today’s special debate, a third of the 349 members were required to vote for it to move to the next level.
This translates to 116 members.
The 11-member select committee will comprise six from the majority side which is Kenya Kwanza, four from the minority side and one from the Jubilee party.
In the impeachment bid backed by 110 MPs, including those from President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza, Wanami accused Linturi of gross violation of the Constitution and the law, and gross misconduct.
The legislator said the CS approved the procurement and distribution of fake fertiliser by the National Cereals and Produce Board.
He said the CS, through NCPB, procured and distributed ‘soil conditioner’ disguised as fertiliser to farmers.
The move, he argued, amounted to professional misconduct, gross violation of the constitution and gross misconduct.
