The Charizard Tera Raid in Pokemon Violet and Pokemon Scarlet is a special event Tera Raid battle available for a limited time. This guide covers how to unlock the 7-Star Charizard Tera Raid and how to prepare to beat Charizard so you can capture one. (You probably want a Raid Build Azumarill).

How to Unlock the 7-Star Charizard Raid

There are a few things you’ll need to do to be able to challenge the Charizard Tera Raid in Pokemon Violet or Pokemon Scarlet.

Connect to the Internet by opening the menu in-game and pressing L. Open the Poke Portal and press + to see the news.

To see the Black Crystals where Charizard resides in your own game (see the screenshot below), you will need to complete the steps to unlock 6-Star Raids (complete the post-credits Academy Ace Tournament – you may or may not have to do 15 5-Star Tera Raids – we’ll update this.)

can still participate in the raids by joining Tera Raid Battles online with a random or by using a Link Code – you will however need a paid Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Note that you will need to do some legwork to actually partake. As Nintendo puts it: “You’ll be able to take on Tera Raid Battles at black crystals after completing certain postgame events. However, players who haven’t completed these events may still participate in these Tera Raid Battles by joining another Trainer’s Tera Raid Battle, whether they’re in a multiplayer group or using a Link Code.”
