A woman died after being injured in a crush at a concert at London’s Brixton O2 Academy, which also injured several other people. 

The concert by Afro-pop singer Asake had to be cut short after a “large number of people” tried to force their way inside on Thursday, according to the Met Police.

Rebecca Ikumelo, 33, of Newham, east London, died in hospital on Saturday morning, according to the Met.

Two other women, aged 21 and 23, are still in critical condition, according to police.

Asake said he was “overwhelmed with grief” & “devastated” by her death. The O2 Academy Brixton said it was “deeply saddened” to hear Ms. Ikumelo had died.

In a tweet, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said he was “heartbroken” by the death.”
