Bishop Patrick Okabe, the Serere County Member of Parliament, died in a motor vehicle accident on Monday morning.

The incident occurred when his V8 Landcruiser collided head-on with a Kenya truck on the Mbale-Tirinyi road near Naboa.


Okabe was traveling with his wife and driver at the time of the accident. 


Okabe died on the spot, while his wife was rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition.


The Kenya truck was reportedly registered as KCX 071K, and Okabe’s Landcruiser was registered as UBK 995F.


Mr. Joel Namisi, a Junior Pastor at Faith Ministries, confirmed the death of Bishop Patrick Okabe, the founder of the church and also a radio station and school.


He described Okabe’s death as a loss to the church and community, stating that “we lost him in times we needed him.” 


Okabe’s body is reportedly being held at the mortuary at Mbale Hospital.
