The Cross River State Command of the Nigerian Police @PoliceNG have arrested three persons suspected to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra.
They are Richard Ukehad, 29; Esther Asado, 29 and Chief Isaac Ebebe, 44.
Briefing newsmen at the Command Headquarters in Calabar today, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Sule Balarabe, disclosed that they were arrested following intelligence that IPOB members were sighted at Bebe III in the Obanliku Local Government Area of the state.
According to Balarabe, “Based on the strength of the information, the military in collaboration with the Anti Kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested three suspects including Richard Ukehad – 29, Esther Asado – 29 and Chief Isaac Ebebe – 44.
“They equally led the team to their camp where two dane guns, one Biafran uniform, one Biafra flag, four explosive devices, two suspected explosive chemical, charms, a Police beret and live cartridges and others were recovered. They will be charged to court soon.”
He also disclosed the arrest of two persons over the illegal possession of firearms, and another for armed robbery and kidnapping leading to the recovery of two AK47 rifles and 200 rounds of AK47 live ammunition.
He restated the Command’s commitment to rid of the off criminals. In his words, “The command while performing its duty will not tolerate any unwholesome behavior from any quarters whether by individual or group. We are poised to clamp down on criminal elements and lawbreakers at all levels.”
