He shared the picture on his Instagram page. Although Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, Canadian rapper Drake still lost his $1million bet placed on the South American team to defeat France.

In a video posted on Twitter the day before Argentina battled France, Drake was seen picking the Lionel Messi-led side to win the match. Drake reportedly lost his money thanks to the rules on the betting platform.

According to Fox News, the issue was that Drake “bet in a market where extra time isn’t counted and the result is determined based on the score after 90 minutes of play.

As at 90 minutes full-time at the World Cup finals on Sunday in Qatar, Argentina and France were on a 2-2 draw, before playing extra-time were they both levelled at 3-3 and eventually going into penalties that saw Argentina defeat France 4-2.

After a triumphant outing in Qatar, the squad led by captain Lionel Messi was received by massive crowds who lined up on the streets in excitement and cheers at the return of their heroes.

Messi was the first to step off the plane as he held the gold trophy aloft to the sight of the crowds.

A red carpet was then rolled to have the triumphant team walk on as they were greeted by reporters, officials and a live band.

Then they departed the airport, traveling on an open-top bus to their Football Association’s headquarters.

The main celebration is scheduled to be at the capital city’s Obelisk monument at midday (15:00 GMT) on Tuesday.

The Argentine government said the day would be a bank holiday so fans “can express their deepest joy for the national team”.

The AIPS President, Gianni Merlo, in a statement on Monday, said Messi should apologise on behalf of the team for the song with which he and his teammates insulted journalists.

Merlo said Messi may be a lauded billionaire but has to respect those who have also contributed, with their enthusiasm and no self-interest, to creating his myth.

He added that in addition to being great players they should also be role models in life, because they have become rich thanks to everyone.

Lionel Messi is undoubtedly the number one in football, the captain of the Argentine national team, who won the World Cup, but for this very reason he should apologise on behalf of the team for the song with which he and his teammates insulted us journalists, all of our category.

RESPECT He may be a lauded billionaire, but he has to respect those who have also contributed, with their enthusiasm and no self-interest, to creating his myth.

In addition to being great players they should also be role models in life, because they have become rich thanks to everyone.

THE INSULT It was nice to see him on the pitch with his family, everyone rejoiced with him. But now what would the public and the family members of journalists, who have been described as “whores” (“putos periodistas”) by characters who sometimes have dubious behaviours bordering on law, think.

APOLOGY Among the players there were also officials of the Argentine federation singing and this is even more serious.

Let’s hope that some of them realise the offense done and apologise.
