American couple is facing the death penalty in Uganda. They are being charged with trafficking and torturing one of their three foster kids.

According to The Post, Nicholas Spencer and his wife Mackenzie Leigh Mathias Spencer, who are both 32 years old and have been living in Uganda since 2017, fostering children from the Welcome Ministry. Allegedly tortured and trafficked one of their foster children, a 10-year-old special-needs boy who is now HIV positive, according to local police.

Neighbors of the Spencers realized the boy was being consistently tortured. So they recorded some of the incidents on camera. They informed police that the boy was barefoot and “naked throughout the day,” and “would occasionally make him squat in an awkward position, with his head facing the floor and hands spread out widely.”

A caregiver of the boy told police, “I wanted to leave the job, but I knew if I left without doing something about it, the torture would continue,” the caregiver reportedly said.

The Spencers allegedly recruited, transported and kept the child through “abuse of position of vulnerability for purposes of exploitation,” according to the court documents.
