Telekom Malaysia confirms it was hit by a data breach on Wednesday (Dec 28), which affected 250,248 Unifi Mobile customers.

“The type of data that was breached involved customer names, phone numbers and emails. No other information was breached,” TM says.

The company says it has notified the affected customers, comprising both individuals and SMEs.

TM adds that the breach has been contained and it has taken steps to minimise the potential impact to the affected customers.

“Customers who have not received any notification are not impacted,” TM says, adding that it has reported the matter to the authorities.

The telco says it is conducting assessments and advises customers to take precautions when receiving communications from unknown parties.
