Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that ‘Emily in Paris’ star Lucien Laviscount is reportedly in the running to play the next James Bond.
Laviscount joined Emily In Paris for its second series when his British banker character swept leading lady Emily off her feet after meeting her during their French lessons. They went on to enjoy a romance after he decided to live in the French capital.
Laviscount’s first acting role was in BBC drama Clocking Off before he landed a full-time job on Coronation Street, playing religious swimmer Ben Richardson. Following his stint on Celebrity Big Brother, he starred in Waterloo Road before moving to the US and a role as Earl Grey in Fox’s horror comedy series Scream Queens.
He is also in BBC3 drama Peacock, as well as Netflix movie Your Christmas Or Mine alongside Angela Griffin and Sex Education actor Asa Butterfield. Laviscount has reportedly dated a number of celebrities including Kelly Osbourne and Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
Meanwhile, it can also be revealed that despite Ms Broccoli saying no announcement on a new 007 film is imminent, stunt men and women are being tested at Pinewood Studios. A source there said: ‘They want to be ready for when things start moving with the new Bond.’
Lucian Laviscount became a housemate on Channel 5’s Big Brother in 2011, he placed well in the show placing fifth out of 10 housemates.
He appeared alongside Jedward and Kerry Katona, as well as the Reality TV Star Paddy Doherty who snubbed the crown that year. Laviscount escaped the house with minimal scandals, apart from kissing fellow star Kerry Katona.
He appeared in the show more than a decade ago, since then his public persona has reached new heights and he has been considered for more serious acting roles, like James Bond. Laviscount also appeared on the well-known such as Waterloo Road in 2010 and Skins in 2013.
Prior to that he had a small role in 2002 on BBC’s Clocking Off and a regular appearance on Grange Hill from 2008.
He gained a public image after appearing on Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother in 2011.
Laviscount has slowly worked his way up appearing on more successful TV shows such as Scream Queens in 2015. And of course, Emily in Paris since 2021.
According to an unnamed source speaking to the Daily Mail, “Lucien ticks all of the boxes.”
They said that he is a talented and extremely handsome actor who has attracted new fans in the last 18 months since joining the Netflix show.
However, his brief stint in season 8 of Celebrity Big Brother may have hurt his chances of playing Bond.
According to the source, whilst producers are interested in Laviscount, his appearance on the reality show isn’t particularly Bond-fitting.
Placing fifth on Big Brother shows Laviscount has been likable for years which. The source continued: “That is a dream for Barbara who is very taken with him.”
If Laviscount secured his place as Bond, this would make him the very first actor to have previously appeared on Big Brother.
Laviscount would add diversity to the role of James Bond. As well as being the first Big Brother contestant to play Bond, he would also be the first Black actor.
In 2021, Broccoli told the Girls on Film Podcast: “We want the actor to be British. [That’s] the key thing. And British, as we know, can be many, many things.”
The producer said that she is open to some diversity of the role. So casting Lavsicount would definitely be the next step.
