Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Bell Biv DeVoe Performed The National At Today’s Winter Classic at Fenway.

The beauty of it is that its one of the greatest marketing ideas in sports history, yet they’ve been wise enough not to over-saturate it, water it down, or whore it out to the point we get tired of it.

They manage to slightly tinker and tweak it by making minor improvements each year and not anything too drastic.

From today’s exit off the bus with the B’s in bygone-era Red Sox uniforms, with bats slung over their shoulders, to the Pens and them taking the ice, set to the Boston Pops playing backdrop, they nailed everything once again.

They’d split off from New Edition, the singing, dancing “boy band” from Boston that put out “Candy Girl,” “Cool it Now and “Mr. Telephone Man.” Although that group also included the estimable Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and (later on) Johnny Gill, it was BBD – produced by Elliot “Dr. Freeze” Straite – that got all the attention with swinging tracks like “Poison,” “Do Me,” “She’s Dope!” and “B.B.D. (I Thought it Was Me)?”

Numerous reunion with Brown, Tresvant and Gill have ensued over the years, but Bell Biv DeVoe endures – and the headline a show Saturday at Amalie Arena, alongside fellow ‘90s travelers Xscape (“Just Kickin’ It,” “Feels So Good,” “Understanding”), Tamar Braxton, 112, Next and H-Town.

The Black Keys formed in Akron, Ohio, in 2001 and include singer/guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney. The group cut their teeth playing small clubs in the Midwest but has gone on to sell out arena tours with 11 studio albums. The Black Keys have won six Grammy Awards and several other worldwide accolades.

Bell Biv Devoe spun off from New Edition following the parent group’s tour in support of 1988’s Heart Break. Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe got a fresh start with their debut album, Poison.

And for more than 135 years, the Boston Pops have entertained audiences in Boston and beyond. Conductor Keith Lockhart has led the orchestra since 1995. The Pops got their start way back in 1885, thanks to Civil War veteran Henry Lee Higginson. Over the course of 135 years, there have been 17 conductors of the Boston Pops. Keith Lockhart’s tenure has been marked by a dramatic increase in touring and the orchestra’s first Grammy nominations.

And the Backstreet Boys are still performing, too (another ‘90s boy band!) The BB’s headline the 93.3 FLZ Jingle Ball Friday – also at Amalie – with Big Time Rush and others. Tickets.

Singer, actor and dancer Deejay Young, a Tampa native who performed in the first national tour of Hamilton, has a holiday concert Friday at 7 p.m. at freeFall Theatre. Tickets here.

Christmas concerts this weekend at Ruth Eckerd Hall and its little brother, the Capitol Theatre: Debbie Gibson (tonight at the Cap); Rockapella (Friday at the Cap); Bowzer, Peter Noone, Gary “US” Bonds, etc (Saturday at REH) and bay area-born and bred saxophonist Mindi Abair (Saturday at the Cap).
