Jakel Group has estimated losses to be almost RM100 million after a fire broke out at its Shah Alam branch early Sunday (Jan 1).
Managing director Mohamed Faroz says the amount only involved the value of the building and the actual losses are yet to be determined.
. “This is a big loss for the company but we accept it as our fate,” Faroz says, adding the yearly sales turnover from the branch was about RM300mil.
He says the retailer will try to find a temporary location around Shah Alam before Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year.
PDRM says a short circuit was believed to be the cause of the fire and no casualties were reported.
Meanwhile, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department will deploy its K9 Dog Detection Unit to determine whether there were any elements of mischief or fire accelerants were used.
