A popular roti canai stall at Jalan Transfer in Penang has been ordered to close for two weeks for failing to meet MOH’s hygiene standards.

Health authorities found faecal matter on chicken eggs and that the stall workers had not attended food-handling courses.

The stall owner was issued a RM500 compound for failing to send his workers for the courses.

A drinks stall located next to the outlet was also fined RM500 after cross-contamination was found in a refrigerator.

The roti canai stall owner says he will comply with the two-week closure notice and clean up the stall.

“Pekerja lama sudah pulang ke India, pekerja sedia ada mempunyai sedikit masalah,” he was quoted as saying by BH.

Reports also note there was a long queue of customers at the stall despite the hygiene issue and the presence of authorities this morning.

Last week, a video went viral claiming that workers at the roti canai stall failed to practice proper hygiene.
