A Malaysian-registered cargo ship with five crew members onboard has been missing for the last 10 days, says the Johor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

The ship was carrying 527 iron pipes, worth RM726,205.

Johor MMEA director Nurul Hizam says its last known location was recorded on January 1 in Indonesian waters, 0.2 nautical miles away from Johor’s maritime borders.

A police report on its disappearance was lodged yesterday. “Ejen mendakwa kapal kargo MV Dai Cat 06 telah keluar dari jeti Kampung Aceh, Perak pada 23 Disember 2022 dan sepatutnya tiba di Kuching pada 31 Disember tahun lalu,” he adds.

The crew of the ship was made up of three Malaysians and two Indonesians. “Maklumat terkini, suatu isyarat kecemasan Emergency Position Indicatior Radio Beacon (EPIRB) dikesan daripada kapal kargo MV Dai Cat 06 pada kedudukan 30 batu nautika barat laut Pemangkat, Indonesia,” Nurul Hizam says.

He adds that the Putrajaya Maritime Rescue Control Centre has requested for Indonesian authorities to help locate the ship.
