Four dogs from the Fire and Rescue Department’s K9 Unit have received the ‘Golden Performance’ medal, for their role in the search and rescue operations for the Batang Kali landslide.

The medals were presented to Blake, Pop, Grouse dan Lady.

The search and rescue operation has officially ended at noon today, after the discovery of the last victim.

PDRM says agencies like the PWD and the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council will still conduct technical works at ground zero and nearby areas.

IGP Acryl Sani also expressed the hope that this operation will become a template for future search-and-rescue operations.

“…each agency played its role as outlined in the National Security Council Directive No 20 (NSC 20), so there was no overlapping in duties.”

This comes as the body of the last victim, an 11-year-old boy, was claimed by family members.

Meanwhile, the social welfare department also announced it is ready to provide counselling to survivors and families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy.
