Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Businessman and Action SA, Juju “Joel” Pilusa, shot dead in Mabopane.

And now, on Thursday, 16 March, Joel ‘Juju’ Pilusa, a well-known man in the kasi, was gunned down at Mabopane block C.

ActionSA Gauteng Chairperson Funzi Ngobeni said they are mourning the passing of their slain member.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Sello said the cops responded to a shooting incident at Unit C in Mabopane.

“On arrival, the members found a man lying on the ground in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds. The victim was declared dead on the scene,” she said.  Social media users and Juju’s friends shared messages of condolences on social media.

Reuben Kheswa wrote: “I was still coming to terms with the tragic death of my cousin when disaster struck again last night. It was a double blow, and I couldn’t extricate myself from the nightmare. My Wife was crying uncontrollably, and I was just not strong enough to comfort her as I shed some tears too.”

Tlhogi Ambani Sinclair wrote: “You didn’t deserve to be murdered in such a gut-churning manner, Rest in Peace.”  The shooting incident comes hardly a week after Gauteng Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Elias Mawela released the province’s crime statistics for the third quarter of 2022.

It’s alleged that men armed with rifles opened fire on Pilusa next to the busy Peter Magano road.

The shooting has been described as a hit.

Police are searching for an unknown number of suspects following the fatal shooting.

A graphic video of a man laying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds has been widely circulated on social media.

In the video, the man is seen lying face down on the pavement with part of his brain blown out.

The motive for the killing is unknown. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello has urged anyone with information to contact their nearest police station.

“The circumstances that led to the shooting are unknown at this stage and no suspects have been arrested. The police request anyone who may have information about the incident to please contact the Crime Stop Line at 08600 10111 or anonymously report tip-offs on MySaps application,” adds Sello.

Over the past few months, Pretoria has seen a number of people being killed execution-style.

In February, another resident Tshepiso Ditshego was also shot and killed in a hail of bullets by two men armed on the same Peter Magano road.

Residents have taken to social media to express their shock and frustration at these shooting incidents.

They are now calling on Police Minister Bheki Cele to address these ‘senseless shootings’.

They say they are now living in fear as they have to be always on high alert. In 2022, Amapiano musician and businessman DJ Sumbody was also shot and killed in the same manner.

Meanwhile, a total of 1 721 people were murdered in the province during the third quarter of 2022, which was an increase of 151 compared to the previous year.
