Leroy Sané hid his lower lip from the cameras when arriving back in Munich today after being punched by Sadio Mane.
Bayern Munich stars had to separate Sadio Mane and a wounded Leroy Sane inside the dressing room after an altercation following defeat by Manchester City.
The Bundesliga champions face an uphill task to overturn a three-goal deficit in the Champions League quarter-final and the wingers came to blows at full time.
Mane is said to have been picked up at Munich Airport in a private vehicle when the team arrived back on Wednesday, while Sane boarded the team coach.
The incident indicates the sizeable task on Thomas Tuchel’s hands if Bayern are to launch an improbable comeback in next week’s second leg at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern have not commented.
The reigning German champions were brutally punished by Manchester City in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.
Haaland added a third for the hosts to give Bayern a mountain to climb in the second leg at the Allianz Arena on April 19.
Mane had been brought on in the 69th minute of the defeat, with the forward having had a mixed first season since joining from Liverpool for £35million last summer.
The 31-year-old has scored 11 goals in his 32 appearances for the German giants. Mane was picked up separately when the team landed back in Munich while Sane took the team bus.
Bayern Munich have declined to comment.
Mane moved to the German team last summer on a three-year deal after being a fan favourite during a stellar career with Liverpool.
Sane was with City for four years before joining Bayern in 2020. For Pep Guardiola’s team it was an impressive performance, with goals from Rodri, Bernardo Silva and the prolific Erling Haaland giving them a commanding lead for the second leg.
The trophy is the only major honour to elude the Spanish manager in his tenure with the Blues.
