Teenage cheerleaders in ELGIN, Texas were just SHOT by a gunman – after mistakenly getting into the wrong car.

When one of the athletes opened the door to a car she thought was her own, she saw a man sitting in the passenger seat, and jumped out.

After she found her own car, the man came toward her and her friends. She rolled down the window to apologize, but the man pulled out a gun and started shooting.

One athlete suffered a graze wound, while another was shot in the leg and back and had her spleen removed.

This is the third incident in a week – Ralph Yarl, Kaylin Gillis, and now this.

THIS is what happens when you live in a country where unstable people are told by Fox News and other NRA-owned stations that they are constantly under threat, and are given guns.

This is so f–king wrong. We need to call it out NOW.

A Central Texas cheerleader is in the hospital Tuesday night after a shooting in Elgin.

Elgin Police said a 25-year-old man fired shots into a car at an H-E-B parking lot and injured two people.

Lynn Shearer, owner of Woodland’s Elite Cheer Co., said four cheerleaders who go to her gym were involved in that shooting.

“It was unfortunate. These girls were just trying to get home,” Shearer said.

Shearer said the cheerleaders carpool from the Austin area to her gym. “These kids have grown up in our gym. We’ve known them for years, some of them literally, since they were, you know, 8,10 years old,” Shearer said. “So they’re like our family.”

She said Monday night they were returning back to the H-E-B in Elgin, where they parked their cars when one of the girls accidentally tried to get in the wrong car.

“The guy got out and they saw that he had a gun. And so they tried to speed off and he shot his gun, like five times or so into the car,” Shearer said.

The violent attack happened at 12:15 a.m. in the parking lot of an H-E-B located at 1080 E US 290.

Elgin Police say a group of cheerleaders was returning home from a Houston-area practice when an altercation between the two groups led to multiple shots being fired into their vehicle.

Two girls were hit by the gunfire. One was grazed by a bullet and treated on scene and released. Payton Washington, a senior at Stony Point High School and a standout member of the school’s cheerleading squad sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition after being shot twice in the back.
