Rapper Blueface stopped Ed Matthews in a ‘wildcard’ fight on the undercard of AnEsonGib’s rematch with Austin McBroom on Saturday night.
The rivals were drafted in at short notice and added to the KingPyn Boxing tournament which will be held over three fight nights. Blueface and Matthews have clashed repeatedly in the build-up to the fight and finally settled their beef between the ropes in London.
Blueface made a huge impact in the rap game with his first big single. Not only was “Thotiana” a major hit, but it was also a song that changed people’s slang terms. The song was huge and it led to him signing with Cash Money Records. In addition, Blueface’s manager, Wack 100, got a job running Cash Money West. With Blueface as the first offering, his single topped Billboard Hot 100. After that, the “Thotiana” remix came, featuring Cardi B and YG.
Kingpyn Boxing: High Stakes took place April 22 at The OVO Arena in London, England. Rapper Blueface and Ed Matthews battled in a five-round boxing match and served as a wildcard fight for the event, which saw multiple influencer tournaments begin. The event streamed on Kingpyn TV.
And it was the rapper who had his hand raised after four rounds, having dropped Matthews in the second round and forced the referee to administer a count in the third session. Matthews appeared to be struggling with his cardio but did respond well in the final round before an onslaught from Blueface forced another two counts before the referee finally stepped in to stop the fight with just one second of the bout remaining.
After having his hand raised, Blueface said: “Like I said before, I’m going to take him to deep waters where he can’t swim and I’m going to be victorious. Thank you to everyone for coming out. I did this for myself, I love to fight. I’ve been fighting for free for a long time so if they’ve got money then I’m fighting. Ain’t nobody worth me calling out, so tell them to call me with some money in the contract and we’ll fight.”
Blueface definitely went the controversial route, but he kept himself relevant. Instead of settling for being a one hit wonder, he is a viral superstar. This is something Blueface proved by doing things like celebrity boxing matches. Today, the Los Angeles rapper had a match with Ed Matthews, who is best-known for TikTok. After all of the trash talk, Blueface came through with the big win. During his celebration, he said he was taking Ed’s girfriend.
