Rihanna, 35, might well be the annual event’s most anticipated arrival at this point. Over the years, she’s attended in iconic looks ranging from a pope-inspired Maison Margiela Artisanal ensemble (for 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” gala) to a petal-covered Comme des Garçons creation (for 2017’s “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” ball).

And who could possibly forget the jaw-dropping yellow Guo Pei gown she chose for 2015’s “China: Through the Looking Glass”-themed carpet.

The “Love on the Brain” star stunned in a bridal-esque white Valentino ensemble featuring a flower-adorned cape, dramatic train and false eyelash-adorned sunglasses.

For his part, A$AP Rocky went comparatively casual — at least on the bottom half — as he sported a Gucci suit jacket and a plaid kilt layered over a pair of shimmering jeans.

She continued, “When I saw women dress during their pregnancy [in the past], I’d think that that was the only way. So I challenged myself to push it further and really just have fun with [maternity style]. Because there’s nothing more fun than a challenge for me. Like that’s where I get creative. That’s where I’m forced to come up with new ideas and new ways to make it work.”

She added of her fashion outlook, “It’s been me personally saying, ‘I’m not going to buy maternity clothes. I’m not gonna buy maternity pants, jeans, dresses, or [do] whatever society told me to do before.’”

Pugh has sported several showstopping Valentino looks lately, including at the Venice Film Festival premiere of “Don’t Worry Darling” and then again at the Oscars earlier this year. Last week she revealed that she was the new star of Valentino’s Rockstud bag campaign.

But it was her hair that drew the most attention. Some onlookers wondered if it was a wig.

In an interview last week with the New York Times she teased that her Met Gala look was going to be “big.”

“The idea is to be as bold as possible. I love the power that it gives me. I love how it sparks conversation,” Pugh said. “Every time I step out in whatever dress, that’s a version of me that I’m really proud of. So it doesn’t matter if people don’t necessarily like it. I don’t think anything that I do has to be 100% loved. Things being up for debate is good. It means people are interested.”
