Selena Gomez & her kidney donor Francia Raisa are reportedly not friends anymore because Selena drinks alcohol.
Francia Raisa’s dad, El Cucuy, revealed why his daughter stopped speaking to her ex-BFF Selena Gomez.
Five years after generously donating her kidney to the superstar in 2017, the actress’ father confirmed speculation that the former pals had a falling-out during a recent appearance on Primer Impacto earlier this year.
The interview came after deflecting all of Backgrid’s questions about Gomez by instead discussing the weather, being from the San Fernando Valley, the Lakers and avocado trees.
When asked if she regretted donating one of her kidneys to the Wizards of Waverly Place alum – who’s now in remission from the autoimmune disorder Lupus – in 2017, Raisa replied: ‘I would definitely speak to someone again about organ donation and the process and stuff.’
“Love, money and fame changes the whole world, including Selena,” he said on “Primer Impacto” last November.
The host then questioned if their fallout was “provoked” by Gomez’s drinking.
“There’s a difference when Selena is drinking,” Coello replied. “Francia told Selena that she didn’t give her the kidney so she could go out and drink.” On Monday, Raisa revealed one of Gomez’s fans threatened to ‘rip out her other kidney’ after being accused of shading the Only Murders in the Building star.
In footage, obtained by TMZ, following days of online harassment, the Los Angeles native made it clear that she and Gomez do not ‘condone bullying.’
‘She literally has a whole non-profit [Rare Impact Fund] dedicated to mental health. And I believe Rare Beauty just even had an event [Rare Beauty Mental Health Summit] for mental health,’ the How I Met Your Father star said.
She continued: ‘So the fact that now I’m being bullied as I am is messing with me mentally. It’s just, to me, it’s not what anyone wants for someone, and she’s literally out there saying please stop. So I don’t understand why this is happening.’
The performer explained that she is ‘doing best to not listen, to breathe’ and is ‘very happy.’
Raisa then addressed the trolls directly as she insisted: ‘I’m living my life. I’m sending love to everyone. I understand. I’ve been a hardcore fan of people growing up myself. I totally, totally, totally get it. But, you know, it’s not nice. So I would say, not just with me, but for anyone, please stop.’ Coello, 69, then issued a warning to the “Only Murders in the Building” actress: “Be careful. Be really careful.”
Page Six has reached out to Gomez’s rep for comment.
In 2017, Raísa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez, who suffers from lupus. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” alum, 30, documented the medical procedure, sharing images of her and the “How I Met Your Father” actress, 34, holding hands from their respective hospital beds.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote at the time on Instagram. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me.
“I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
