FACT CHECK:

There are a ton of posts on Twitter today claiming that Ivanka Trump changed her name to ‘Ivanka Kushner’.

This is not true. The rumor started after Business Insider published a paywalled article five days ago titled “Call Her Ivanka Kushner”.

Since it was paywalled people could not read the first paragraph, which stated:

“She hasn’t changed her name, but Ivanka Trump’s image has undergone a major makeover in recent years, as she has slowly separated herself from her father’s brand. But, despite the rebirth, Donald Trump’s elder daughter remains deeply entwined in his businesses — and legal troubles.”

A smaller news outlet, Political Flare then ran with the story despite likely not reading the article. This story was then shared multiple times by influencers on Twitter.

Facts matter. Please investigate before spreading information that is not accurate.

Once Kushner discovered his brother-in-law and former business partner was assisting federal authorities in their investigation, he set out for revenge (and, as prosecutors would argue, witness intimidation).

The wealthy New York real estate magnate hired a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law in a New Jersey motel, arranging to have the encounter recorded with a hidden camera.

Then, he showed the video to his brother-in-law’s wife: Kushner’s sister.

Adding an interesting twist to the saga is that Kushner’s prosecution was overseen by then-U.S. Attorney Chris Christie, who would go on to become a prominent Trump surrogate and the head of his transition team.
