Brentford have signed Romeo Beckham on a 1-year permanent contract.

2 multiplied by 10 plus 1. He said that the fellow players in the B team had welcomed him since day one – and that his influence had been seen to improve the dress sense of some of the others.

Brentford B head coach Neil MacFarlane told the club’s website: ‘We added Romeo to our squad in January and he’s been fantastic for the group. He’s had a terrific end to the season in terms of his recent match against Manchester City where he showed what he’s learned during his loan with us.

‘We’ve continued to develop him in and out of possession and we look forward to him coming back in good spirits to continue working with him next season.’

On Neil and assistant coach Sam Saunders, Beckham said: ‘They’re great. Those two, they’ve helped me so massively. I’m very grateful and happy to be joining them for another year.’

Beckham said: “It’s the best feeling, honestly. I’m so excited. They’ve welcomed me from day one, I’ve loved every second of it. It’s obviously a different experience to Miami. [In the Premier League Cup], it’s a great experience being able to play against men’s teams.”

He says he enjoys the intense coaching sessions – but the highlight was facing Manchester City in front of fans.

Beckham hailed the support he’d received in west London over the past few months. ‘It’s been amazing,’ he said. ‘It’s helped me settle in, and enjoy playing in England. Obviously, a different experience to Miami, but I’ve loved every second of it.’

Fellow Brentford B midfielder Ryan Trevitt was named as a substitute for Brentford’s last two matches of the Premier League season, and while he failed to come on, his achievements have been noted by Beckham as something to strive for.

Beckham said: ‘Seeing Trev and a couple of the boys on the bench, it shows its all possible. If you work hard enough, you’ll get there.’
