Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that CAUSE OF DEATH: Quebec author, Denise Bombardier, confirmed dead.
The Quebec journalist and novelist died on Tuesday of complications related to medical examinations. In 1990, on the set of “Apostrophes”, she accused Gabriel Matzneff of pedophilia because, she said, literature cannot be an alibi for everything.
Denise Bombardier died at the age of 82 following a liver biopsy that went wrong. Her husband, James Jackson explained on Radio Canada that the journalist had spent some time this weekend in palliative care. Upon returning home, she felt unwell and had difficulty breathing. She died on Tuesday surrounded by her husband, their son and her sister.
Bombardier “was a great Montrealer who had the courage of her convictions,” Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante said Tuesday in a tweet. “Her departure is a shock for all of Quebec.”
“We will deeply miss our great Denise Bombardier, known to all Quebecers for her verve,” Québecor chief executive Pierre Karl Péladeau tweeted. He called her “a woman of opinion and courage.”
Bombardier “was a monument in Quebec’s cultural, political and intellectual arena, implacably rigorous in her convictions but capable of evolution and also of that sometimes brave spontaneity that nourishes everyone’s thinking,” added Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet.
