Estate released Bob Marley: One Love first teaser trailer.
Featuring the famous Marley songs “Jamming” and “Exodus,” the trailer reveals Ben-Adir’s transformation into the icon during various stages of his life from his roots in Jamaica to his rise to global fame. The emotional centerpiece of the trailer is the assassination attempt on Marley’s life which severely injured his wife Rita (Lynch). The trailer ends by emphasizing Marley’s overall message of peace – “One love, one heart, one destiny.”
Bob Marley: One Love co-stars Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley and James Norton as record producer Chris Blackwell. Other castmembers include Jesse Cilio, Michael Gandolfini, Nadine Marshall and Anthony Welsh.
The film, which has the backing of the music legend’s estate, counts Richard Hewitt, Orly Marley and Matt Solodky as executive producers. Other relatives of Marley’s involved in the film include his widow, Rita Marley, and children Cedella Marley and Ziggy Marley, all three of whom are producers on the project.

The movie stars Kingsley Ben-Adir, who plays the Skrull baddie in the current Disney+ series “Marvel’s Secret Invasion,” as the reggae legend.
Ben-Adir has played iconic figures before including Malcolm X in “One Night in Miami” and former President Barack Obama in the Showtime miniseries “The Comey Rule.”
The musical biopic, which rides off the name recognition of its subject, is a genre that has become increasingly popular in Hollywood in recent decades. However, it is also one that is hit-or-miss. Walk the Line, Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, and Elvis are examples of entries into the genre that were big office successes and showered with attention during award season. There are also some recent entries, like Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody, which received mixed reviews from critics and failed to make an impression at the box office.
Bob Marley is finally getting the biopic treatment recently given to Elvis, Freddie Mercury and Elton John.
The movie, “Bob Marley: One Love,” is scheduled to arrive in theaters January 12, 2024
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard”), the film was filmed in England and Jamaica, including sites in Kingston such as Trench Town, where the Wailers formed. The biopic covers Bob Marley’s life including a December 1976 attack on the life of him, Rita Marley and the Wailers at Bob’s home and studio.
