CAUSE OF DEATH: Former coach, B. Sathianathan, confirmed dead after battle with cancer.




Former national football team coach B Sathianathan has died.


Sathianathan, who coached the national team from 2007 to 2009, was 65.


His death was confirmed by Bernama.


Football Association of Malaysia media, communications and public relations committee chairman A Christopher Raj also tweeted that Sathianathan died today.


“Rest in Peace Anna (older brother), you fought a good fight,” he tweeted.


Sebelum itu, mendiang turut membimbing skuad B-23 negara dari 2006-2008 dengan kejayaan menjuarai Pesta Bola Merdeka pada 2007 dan menjadi naib juara pada 2008.


Selain itu, mendiang juga pernah membawa Kelantan menjulang Piala Malaysia pada 2010 selain membimbing ATM dan Felda United menjuarai Liga Perdana, masing-masing pada 2012 dan 2018.


Beliau juga pernah dinobatkan sebagai jurulatih terbaik dalam Anugerah Bolasepak Kebangsaan 2017 (ABK2017).

Sebelum ini, Sathianathan pernah dilaporkan tidak sihat dan mengalami masalah di bahagian jantung.

Susulan itu, beliau tidak lagi mengendalikan mana-mana pasukan dalam Liga Malaysia.


Sebaliknya, beliau banyak muncul dalam siaran langsung perlawanan Liga Super di Astro dan fizikalnya dilihat sudah semakin kurus.
