Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Footage shows dead body of Miss Chinyere Awuda floating on top of swimming pool after being beaten to death for picking money at Cosmila Hotel, Awka.
A young lady identified as Miss Chinyere Awuda was last weekend beaten to death by fun seekers in a club inside Cosmila Hotel in Awka, Anambra State.
The lady, who hails from Nnobi in Idemmili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, was found dead in the swimming pool of the hotel on Sunday morning, where she was dumped after being lynched.
Sources said she was at the club when trouble broke out and a man said to be a popular clubber, Mr. Gabriel Chinemere and his friends started beating her.
The source who spoke on condition of anonymity, also revealed that the police viewed the hotel’s CCTV cameras footage, but there was no footage around the swimming pool area to know exactly what happened there.
“The hotel said they are releasing a statement on what happened”, he further revealed.
The Anambra State Police spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident, said the birthday celebrant and his friends were already in police custody while the case is being investigated.
“Four suspects are in our custody in connection with the incident, the hotel management assisted the police in arresting the suspects and investigation is still ongoing. Further details shall be communicated please”, Ikenga said.
“One of the clubbers accused her of picking money which the fun seekers were spraying on their friend who was a birthday celebrant.
“Some others said she did not only pick money, but went for bundles of money, which a clubber stacked by his seat side, waiting to spray on the celebrant,” a source said.
A regular clubber at Cosmila Hotel told DAILY POST that: “Some of these girls just dress up and come to the club and begin to pick money. While you’re spraying your friends, these girls will just be picking and pocketing the money. They accused her of picking money which they were spraying on their friend while some said she did not only pick money from the floor but went for bundles of money, which one of them stacked by his seat side, waiting to spray on the celebrant.
“The girl was beaten when they caught her but despite efforts made by other people in the hotel to rescue the girl, they continued to beat and molest her.
“She was later dragged outside the club, and her lifeless body dumped into the hotel’s swimming pool.”
Another witness at the scene of the incident told Ripples Nigeria that “some people were picking money from the floor, but she snatched money from the guys’ hand. When they started beating her she ran and took the old abandoned pool back side and drowned unnoticed. It was on Monday morning that we saw her corpse”.
