Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Netflix has released trailer for ‘One Piece – Great Pirate Era’ live-action streaming August 31.
Netflix has just released the official trailer for live-action version of “One Piece,” about a group of young pirates.
Set to be released August 31, the show is an adaptation of the beloved manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda. The story follows a boy named Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) who can stretch his body like rubber and travels with a group of friends named the Straw Hat Pirates in search of a treasure known as One Piece, which would make him Pirate King.
Based on the manga title by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece will follow the other-worldly adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search for the ultimate treasure “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.
Along with the trailer, Netflix also released a letter from Oda about the upcoming series, which is embedded in full below. He started by thanking fans for their outpouring of excitement thus far.
“It’s already fun seeing the flurry of reactions after each release of information,” he wrote. He was also quick to remind fans that, while the story is adapted from the popular manga series, they should expect some changes from the source material.
“After the launch, I’m sure I’ll hear about some people pointing out how this character is missing or that scene is omitted, or this bit is different from the manga, but I’m sure they’ll come from a place of love,” he continued. “So I intend to enjoy even those comments!”
During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, audiences got the first look at the trailer — which teases an action-packed adventure — before it was shared with the rest of the world. The trailer opens the same way that the manga story begins, with the previous pirate king announcing the existence of the “One Piece” right before he is executed.
From there, it’s off to the races. Particularly, the trailer shows off a much better look at Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and the Straw Hat Pirates, as well as some of their journey across the seas.
