“If Messi scores this free kick, I’m a Messi fan” – IShowSpeed says due MLS debut against Cruz Azul.

Infamous YouTube streamer iShowSpeed recently went viral again for his comments before Lionel Messi’s free kick during Friday’s game between Inter Miami and Mexican side Cruz Azul. The popular influencer stated that he would convert to being a Messi fan if the legendary forward scored the last minute free kick. In typical Messi fashion, when the pressure was on, he performed. The Argentine scored a stunning free kick to open his account in the United States. This gave Inter Miami a 2-1 victory over their Liga MX rivals in the Leagues Cup.

Messi only trained with his teammates for the first time on Tuesday but appeared to have an instant understanding with many players.

And with what ended up being one of the final kicks of the game, the forward curled in a stunning free-kick to clinch victory for his new side.

His goal sent fans into raptures and Inter Miami president David Beckham was nearly reduced to tears.

Speed said that he would become a Messi fan if the World Cup winner scored. The 18-year-old streamer is famous for being a superfan of former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo, and was even wearing a Ronaldo Portugal jersey to the Inter Miami match. Speed’s persona as a Ronaldo superfan has seen him dismiss Messi in the past, favoring the former Barcelona player’s Portuguese counterpart.

Having left French champions Paris Saint-Germain at the end of last season, Messi turned down a number of lucrative offers from various countries to sign for the Florida-based side.

A 20,000-capacity crowd showed up in force to watch the seven-time Ballon d’Or on his debut, not least A-list celebrities such as LeBron James, Serena Williams and Kim Kardashian.
