Erling Haaland awarded ¥1M for ‘Man Of The Match’ after winning against Yokohama F. Marinos.
Two second-half strikes from Erling Haaland and another from Rodrigo earned Pep Guardiola’s side the result over our CFG sister club in the first of three fixtures during our tour of Asia.
Kenta Inoue had pulled one back for our Japanese counterparts in the dying minutes but it was Haaland’s second that added gloss to the final score.
Guardiola opted to change all 10 outfielders at the break, with 21 players featuring on the night and only Stefan Ortega Moreno playing the whole match.
Erling Haaland was at the double as Manchester City fought back to beat the Japanese title holders; John Stones, Julian Alvarez and Rodri also on target for City who were captained by Kyle Walker, despite the right-back nearing a possible transfer to Bayern Munich.
The treble-winners went 2-0 down to the J1 League champions, with Anderson Lopes and Ken Matsubara putting the home side ahead. F. Marinos are currently second in their table and just over halfway through their league season.
But John Stones converted from just inside the box after Julian Alvarez shuttled on a cutback from skipper-on-the-day Walker and Alvarez then added a quickfire second, capitalising on a poor pass out from F. Marinos.
