Photos taken days prior to the killing of football star Senzo Meyiwa show that accused 3, Mthobisi Mncube, had dreadlocks.
The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria heard that accused 3 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial had dreadlocks in 2014 the same year the goalkeeper was killed.
This was revealed by Colonel Lambertus Steyn a data analyst in the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Friday, 28 July as he continued with his testimony.
Meyiwa was shot dead in Khumalo’s presence at her mother’s home in Vosloorus. Also present at the time of the murder were Kelly’s sister Zandile, her boyfriend, Longwe Twala, the women’s mother Ntombi Khumalo and two of Meyiwa’s friends who were visiting from KwaZulu-Natal.
The house occupants claimed Meyiwa was killed by one of two intruders who barged into the home, demanding cellphones and money. Steyn kicked off his testimony by showing links between Khumalo and the accused in the matter. Cellphone records revealed that Khumalo was in contact with accused 1 Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya and accused 5 Fisokuhle Ntuli before and after Meyiwa died.
Meyiwa was gunned down at the home of his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo on 26 October 2014 in Vosloorus.
Five men are on trial for the murder of the soccer star, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. They face charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravated circumstances, possession of firearms without a licence and possession of ammunition.
