“Are you a slave of Allah?” – Islamic man, Mohammed, questioned passengers on Malaysia Airlines flight 122 to test Muslims at Sydney Airport.
An AFP spokeswoman confirmed officers were attending the major airport on Monday afternoon.
“The AFP is responding to an emergency incident at Sydney International Airport,” the spokeswoman said.
The plane is understood to still be at the end of the runway at 5.50pm with emergency vehicles waiting on standby.
Sydney Airport confirmed the airport is still operational with flights arriving and departing.
Disturbing footage of a man confronting plane passengers has emerged on board a flight that was forced to turn back, as the AFP conducts an emergency investigation at Sydney International Airport.
The man, who was wearing a backpack on his front side, can be heard in the video saying: “My name is Mohammed, slave of Allah.”
“Are you a slave of Allah? Are you? Say it. Say it! Are you a slave of Allah?” the man continued, seemingly asking a flight attendant.
That flight attendant can then be heard replying: “Yes I am”.
Malaysia Airlines flight MH122, 194 passengers and five crew onboard, was travelling from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur. It departed Sydney Airport at 1.06 pm but was soon forced to turn back due to the disruptive behavior of this passenger at 3.47 pm.
It is reported that the flight was left sitting on the runway for nearly three hours with emergency vehicles nearby.
A Sydney Airport spokesperson told SkyNews.com.au that they are assisting the AFP to manage the incident.
“We are currently supporting emergency agencies in the management of an incident at the airport. The airport is operational with flights arriving and departing. Passengers are encouraged to check directly with their airline regarding the status of their flight.”
