Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that The New York Times confirms Kim Jong-un is traveling to Russia to meet Putin in September 2023.

On Wednesday, the White House issued a warning that Putin and Kim had exchanged letters discussing a possible arms deal.

John Kirby, the White House spokesman, said high-level talks on military cooperation between the two countries were “actively advancing”.

US officials declined to provide more information about the ties between the two leaders.

The source said that one of Kim’s possible stops after Vladivostok is the Vostochny Cosmodrome, where Putin and Alexander Lukashenko, the self-proclaimed Belarusian President, met in April 2022.

The NYT’s sources said Kim would travel from Pyongyang, likely by armoured train, to Russia’s city of Vladivostok to meet with Putin. Kim may also travel to Moscow.

The newspaper’s sources reported that Putin wants Kim to agree to provide Russia with artillery projectiles and anti-tank missiles. Meanwhile, the North Korean leader would like Russia to provide his country with advanced technologies for satellites and nuclear submarines.

John Kirby, National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, earlier warned that Pyongyang may be considering providing additional weapons and military equipment to Russia for use in the latter’s ongoing war in Ukraine, also noting that the leaders of North Korea and Russia may have discussed such a deal in letters they have exchanged since Shoigu’s trip to Pyongyang.

The Russian defense minister was earlier reported to have said that Russia and North Korea are considering holding a joint military exercise with China.

The New York Times report said a delegation of some 20 North Korean officials, “including some who oversee security protocols for the leadership,” traveled to Vladivostok in late August, indicating an upcoming trip by the North Korean leader.
