Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that NY1 presenter, Ruschell Boone, has died after 2-year-l battle with pancreatic cancer.




An internal email shared with the outlet revealed that she died after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.


“She was a dedicated and principled journalist to the very end,” the email read.


“In her last week with us, she was still working on ideas for her show and sharing thoughts for making NY1 a continued beacon of truth for New Yorkers.


Ruschell Boone was a beloved news anchor based in New York City.


She was born in Jamaica in 1975 and was best known for her work at the Spectrum News cable station NY1.


Boone’s career began at CNNfn, where she served as an assignment editor after graduating from Baruch College with a BBA in accounting.


When the two-time Emmy Award winner wasn’t in the studio or on location, she could be found posting about her life on Instagram to thousands of followers.


City Councilman Robert Holden, a Queens Democrat, said on social media that Boone was “one of the greatest reporters New York ever had.” Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, a Queens Democrat, wrote that the newswoman was a “representation of our city’s beauty.”


And Mayor Adams said he was heartbroken, describing Boone as “the heart and soul of the greatest city on the globe.”


“Ruschell was such a special person to so many people in that newsroom,” said Grace Rauh, a former NY1 political reporter. “She was really this larger-than-life person, and had such a huge heart.”


“I think of her as the quintessential NY1 reporter,” Rauh said, describing Boone as an “incredibly versatile” journalist who turned parade reporting into an “art form.”
