768 flood victims have been reported in Selangor, Johor and Kelantan.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana website, Selangor has 490 victims seeking shelter in SK Sungai Binjai, 147 at SK Johan Setia, and 32 at Masjid Al Falah Kg Budiman.

The Selangor government has instructed local authorities to identify areas with clogged drains, which have caused floods in parts of the state.

Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari says efforts will focus on residential areas and flood hotspots.

Amirudin says the government is now also better prepared to address flooding, as they have made early preparations for health and emergency support services.

“The search and rescue operations this time is also faster although there are some victims who do not want to move.”

“However, the Fire and Rescue Department will monitor these areas,” he adds.

Meanwhile, caretaker PM Ismail Sabri has ordered government agencies to take steps to help flood victims in Selangor.
