72-year-old woman dies after Denny’s sign falls on her car.

A coroner has released the name of a 72-year-old woman who died after a restaurant sign fell onto a car in Elizabethtown.

The sign for Denny’s on N. Mulberry Street fell on top of a car around 1:30 p.m. on a windy Thursday.

They said three people in the vehicle, two women and a man, had to be extricated and were taken to a hospital.

The 72-year-old, now identified as Lillian Curtis, was taken to UofL Hospital in critical condition but ultimately died. Family says she went by Lynn.

The other woman and man were taken to Baptist Health with seemingly non-life-threatening injuries, police said.Denny’s sign falls on car

At the time the sign fell, winds were gusting around 50 mph in the area and the surrounding region. Police said that this was a factor in causing the sign to fall.

Elizabethtown Police Department is handling the investigation. A spokesperson for the restaurant chain said the company is working with authorities to assess the situation.

“Denny’s is aware of the incident that took place at our Elizabethtown location on Thursday. Safety is our top priority, and we are working with the authorities to better understand what led to this situation,” Denny’s said in a statement provided to CNN.
