Fourteen years ago, Archuleta earned his golden ticket to “American Idol,” performing John Mayer’s “Waiting on the World to Change” at The Langham, Pasadena.
Now he’s returning to the City of Roses for the 2024 Rose Parade Opening Spectacular presented by Honda with Cassadee Pope (“The Voice”), Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child) and Rush Davis.
“They’re creative and colorful and wild and eye catching. We’re not going to be in ‘The Masked Singer’ outfits, but it’s the same creative team behind those doing the Rose Parade.”
The “American Idol” season seven finalist was “Macaw” on “The Masked Singer,” for which he placed second.
“It was so fun,” Archuleta said. “It was such a different experience, being in a competition in ‘The Masked Singer’ vs. ‘American Idol.’ That was stressful and I was having nervous breakdowns. On ‘The Masked Singer,’ I had a really good time. It’s just positive energy. They’re not there to critique you. They’re having fun and talking about the things they liked and trying to guess who they are. I was dressed as a big bird, so you can’t take it too seriously.”
