Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro triggered the political Left online Friday afternoon after seeing “Barbie” in theaters on opening day and calling it woke “garbage.”
Shapiro said that the movie was one of the “most woke” movies that he has ever seen and that he is releasing a full-length review of it tomorrow.

The Barbie film is set to be released on Friday to millions of excited people who have been eating up the hype, but it also seems to have been viewed early by some folks who went out of their way to make themselves mad about it. Conservatives like Ben Shapiro appear shocked to find that the film, directed by Greta Gerwig, has feminist themes even though said themes have been telegraphed for several months now.
Shapiro even went so far as to count the number of times the movie uses the word “patriarchy” as he sat through an early viewing of the film he was guaranteed to hate just so he could get madder and madder every time he heard the P word.
“My producers dragged me to see ‘Barbie’ and it was one of the most woke movies I have ever seen,” Shapiro tweeted. “My full review of this flaming garbage heap of a film will be out on my YouTube channel tomorrow at 10am ET.”
