The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council has cancelled with immediate effect the licence of a restaurant in Pandan Indah, where a rat was seen eating fried chicken in a food heater.
MPAJ says seizure action will be taken if the outlet continues to operate.
MPAJ says the restaurant received a Grade B rating for its cleanliness in June 2021, with the last check being conducted in January.
The council adds it will only consider new licence applications if all conditions, especially related to cleanliness, are fully complied with.
The Health ministry says the eatery where a rat was seen eating fried chicken, has been identified as a restaurant in Pandan Indah.
“Tindakan penutupan di bawah Seksyen 11, Akta Makanan 1983 dan arahan penutupan selama 14 hari telah dikeluarkan.”
“Sebanyak 6 notis kompaun telah dikeluarkan di bawah Peraturan-Peraturan Kebersihan Makanan 2009 kerana gagal dalam beberapa aspek kawalan penyediaan makanan yang bersih dan selamat,” notes KKM.
Checks conducted on Dec 24 found the premise’s hygiene level was unsatisfactory.
The Health Ministry has urged the public to come forward with information on a viral video, which shows a rat munching on fried chicken at a restaurant.
MOH adds that they will take immediate action against the matter.
